With Heavy Rain: Director's Cut in stores, developer Quantic Dream has released a number of interesting facts about the game. Three million people have played the game, but only 33% of those players managed to keep everyone alive. The interactive choose-your-own-adventure title features numerous ways for all of the characters to die, and it appears most players fell into one of the many death traps.

IGN revealed that 65% of players managed to save Shaun from the clutches of the Origami Killer--meaning Shaun has virtually died about a million times. Yikes!

Only 4% of players saw all the endings available in the game, a requirement for earning the game's elusive Platinum Trophy (of which 3% of gamers managed to snag).

With three million sales, Heavy Rain is one of the best-selling PlayStation 3 exclusives to date. No wonder Quantic Dream's next game will also be a PS3-exclusive.

But I didn't WANT to keep everyone alive. I AM A VENGEFUL INVESTIGATOR

I kept everyone alive and essentially received the best endings, but I'm actually disappointed that i did because on my next playthrough there isn't any room for improvement... I'm probably just going to screw everything up intentionally and see how bad the ending turns out.

You can YouTube all of the deaths/endings. Totally worth the forty minutes of your time.

Prepare to realise just how little choice you actually have in the game, and how difficult it is to get characters dead.

There are tons of endings so that's not really true

Yea, effectively, at minimum, there are 16 endings, minimum, based on whether you kept each of the 4 characters alive or not. Plus, endings for if you id'd the right location where the kid was trapped, etc. so the number is higher (I think it's about 20)

I'm not saying there are none, but there are way less than you'd think, and 'deadly' points can turn out to actually be far less life-or-death when you're trying to do as badly as possible (as ColdbringeR suggested).

A dearth of endings is not exactly the main flaw in Heavy Rain, just the story, animation, voice acting, lecherous implementation of deadweight whatshername, and Cage's laughable beliefs on poverty, psychiatry and local/federal law enforcement rivalry.

They would've sold more if they released for PC too; a lot of PC players love these type of games. It's pretty silly that they didn't release it for PC tbh

I'm also happy to have finished it once only as the director intended, that was my story. Even if it's not very 'gamey' I'm happy with the 8 hour movie I purchased. It had a bit of a lame twist but the presentation and overall feel was awesome. The detective stuff should be a whole new game I think. Really loved it.

      FANTASTIC GAME!

      I got all endings, yay!

Very fun going back and getting everyone killed in all different ways.

My favourite... and the one with the most impact (besides Shaun dieing) (spolier) was letting Ethan commit suicide in jail... I mean wow, is this adult gaming or what?

And Madison, having her jump out of the window of the burning office... to her death! Wow!.

And the finger cutting scene... and the... amazing game.

When I played, I managed to keep everyone alive until the fire scene with Madison. I barely mistepped, and she died in a fire. All of my characters were horribly scarred in the final scene, my characters just barely escaped deaths quite a few times. But it was only in that scene, when I just barely missed walking, and hit the fire and lost. When I played through the scene a second time, I managed to get her through alive.
