Square Enix promises more Deus Ex
by Xav de Matos, Nov 30, 2011 5:00pm PSTSquare Enix CEO Yoichi Wada has reportedly said that Deus Ex has become a core intellectual property (IP) for the company, promising the franchise will continue.
Wada reportedly made the comments during a financial briefing earlier today, where he outlined the company is aiming to establish "ten IPs" that are capable of making "a continuous profit contribution" to the company.
"Regarding yet unannounced IPs, we should certainly be able to announce 2 to 3 titles to everyone with a few years," Wada reportedly said during the call, according to Siliconera.
In addition to Deus Ex, Square Enix considers Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Kingdom Hearts, Tomb Raider, and Hitman to be its current crop of core properties.
Deus Ex: Human Revolution was developed primarily by Eidos Montreal, with developer Nixxies taking command of the PC version. Eidos Montreal is currently working on two new titles, a fourth installment in the Thief franchise and an unannounced title. Square Enix recently revealed it would expand its operations in Montreal, forming a new studio and adding to its current staff.
