Mass Effect 3 to include cut ME2 Citadel mission

BioWare lead writer Mac Walters says that one Citadel mission in Mass Effect 3 was cut from Mass Effect 2.

Mass Effect 3 is giving BioWare another chance to include content that was originally planned for Mass Effect 2, according to lead writer Mac Walters. The cut mission took place on the Citadel, which played a major role in the ending of the first game.

"That's the nice thing about trilogies," Walters said. "Sometimes you get a second chance."

"There was a Mass Effect 2 plot that was a kind of callback to the first Mass Effect that was going to be on the Citadel, and we cut it," Walters told OXM. "But now it's made a resurrection in Mass Effect 3, so I'm happy, but I can't say what it is."

He also joked about the challenges that came with the branching paths of Mass Effect 2. "Sometimes they're hurdles that we've given ourselves, so we kind of smack ourselves in the head and say 'What the hell were we thinking? Why did we do that?' The classic example is, 'Hey, let's make the ending of Mass Effect 2 a suicide mission where all your henchmen can possibly die, and Shepard can even die!' Oh right... and then we're gonna do another game after that. What the hell are we gonna do with all those guys?"

He raises an excellent question, but we'll have to wait until the game launches on March 6, 2012 to find out the answer.

Weird they would cut something that sounds like an awesome throwback, yet release that "Arrival" DLC that no one seemed to like. :/

I can't help but think it involves the Presidium. So annoying it was there in ME2 but not at all explorable.

I downloaded the .txt file that spilled the beans on ME3's plot line. If that .txt file holds true, ME3 looks to be weak sauce. They will have to do better than just include a cut mission.

Well supposedly they reworked the script. A mix of them already changing it and changing it over the feedback from the spoiler reading nerds.

My guess is that is has something to do with the consort Sha'ira. In ME2 there were several news reports and overheard conversations talking about her being found guilty of treason and being on the run from the law.

Plus, if you did her side quest in a particular way, she gave you that Prothean artifact that triggered the observation station memory.
