I Am Alive creative director Stanislas Mettra caused quite a stir when his comments in a recent interview were taken to mean that a PC version of the game was unlikely due to piracy concerns. Mettra says that was not what he meant, and attributes the miscommunication to his not being a native English speaker. He stops short of promising a PC version, though, leaving it at saying that game makers always want to see their games as widely available as possible.
What I meant is that the pc version did not happen yet [sic]. But we are still working to see the feasibility of it, which is not necessarily simple. I gave some examples to illustrate the problematic [sic], but obviously it is not in my hands and not my part to talk about this.
While opening the door to a potential PC version of the game, the response seems more crafted to ease the friction created between the game's design team and the PC gaming community. Mettra's comment that it is not his place to discuss the matter takes him out of the crosshairs, but beyond that, the new statement does little to indicate that there will in fact be a PC version of I Am Alive.
