As Battlefield 3's 'Back to Karkand' downloadable expansion bears down upon us like a tank or jet or some other deadly machine of war, DICE is showing off the pack's remake of the classic Battlefield 2 map 'Gulf of Oman.' The new trailer also teases "a classified fourth vehicle bound to strike fear into the very hearts of the enemy," which appears to be a lovely little bulldozer.

Along with Gulf of Oman, the DLC includes remakes of classic series maps Strike at Karkand, Wake Island, and Sharqi Peninsula. It'll also add ten weapons, four vehicles, including the bulldozer, a new 'Conquest Assault' mode, and the new Assignments progression track.

Back to Karkand is set to take off in December, hitting PlayStation 3 one week before PC and Xbox 360 as per EA and Sony's exclusivity deal. This arrangement was supposed to replace the once-promised free copy of Battlefield 1943 for PS3 players, but EA has pulled a U-turn is now offering that for free too.

Those who pre-ordered Battlefield 3 should have a voucher to get Back to Karkand for free, but it'll cost everyone else $15 (1,200 Microsoft Points).

They actually spread the flags out and didn't completely screw it up. Some of the flags seem a little close but not as bad as the maps there are now.

I would be excited for this is I could actually play the game without all the random "Game disconnected" issues. AND co-op doesn't work!

The frame rate of the video is insanely fast... looks really strange for some reason.

If it's the PC version being shown on the trailer, that would be the faster frame rate. Looks really great, actually.

            Actually there's a 64x SLI-AA option that I tried in HL2. It was chuggy.

64x? Holy shit that's not even antialiasing at that point. It just rerenders everything as vectors.

odd i am running it on ultra with a single 570 and it's intensely pleasing. of course i don't apply ridiculous amounts of AA and AF in 2560 like some do.

The framerate is definitely messed up in that video. I run it at 60fps on PC and it doesn't look like that. In fact the framerate looks just wrong in that trailer.

      That's not a bulldozer, it's a skid steer:

Saying that's a bulldozer is like saying Carlos Mencia is a comedian.
