World of Warcraft celebrates seventh birthday

Have you remembered to get World of Warcraft a present for its birthday? For shame! Blizzard's MMO adores its players so much, it's actually giving players presents to celebrate the seventh anniversary of its launch on November 23. Now, don't you feel guilty for not returning the thoughtful gesture?

To join in the birthday fun, simply log into WoW between now and December 3, Blizzard explains. You'll receive the special Celebration Package item, which grants a 7% bonus to XP and Reputation gains from kills, and gives you a special birthday tabard.

You'll also get a Feat of Strength to show everyone you turned up in your party frock.

It's been seven hugely successful years for WoW. Though the number of active 'subscribers' has dipped down to 10.3 million from a peak of 12 million, that's certainly nothing to sniff at.

Here, if you're still feeling bad about not having a gift for yer old pal WoW, this'll make you feel better about being so cruel: a new World of Warcraft television commercial starring Chuck Norris, star of the Internet meme and some television show or another.

Jumped the shark. Panda & Chuck Norris. What Blizzard doesn't seem to understand is that Norris is a parody of awesomeness. And using him mean that the game is a parody of awesomeness. Some people may not see it this way, but it is a pretty epic fail.

This commerical has nothing to do with the panda expansion, do know why people keep saying shoud've been a monk instead a hunter.

I was very much unimpressed and disappointed in this commercial

Compared to the likes of Mr. T, Verne Troyer, and Ozzy Osbourne this commercial was crap, worse even than William Shatner's.
      a) I myself am not a fan of the Chuck Norris jokes/meme, they are just not funny. This is my opinion and it added to my dislike.
      b) Chuck had all of two lines, he didn't even speak for himself. Was this intentional to play off of the meme somehow, or was he to proud to actually put much effort to endorse a game that takes about him endlessly (no seriously you can all stop talking about him now).
      c) Clearly Chuck Norris would be a monk, even if the rest of us cannot yet be one.
      d) Clearly CNR is much more awesome than Chuck Norris (see Chuck's head mounted on the wall 0:50 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLnapb-30hA)

Wow another crappy anniversary present. I remember the years when they gave out Vanity Pets for free, but I guess they would rather sell them for a profit now.
