Gran Turismo 6 development confirmed, more GT5 DLC promised

"Of course we're working on GT6 already," Polyphony Digital head Kazunori Yamauchi said in a recent interview. In an industry where sequels are inevitable, of course the team would be working on a follow-up to Sony's premiere racing simulator.

But what can we expect from Gran Turismo 6? "What really will be the separating factor is something that we can't update through a DLC is something that obviously has to be saved for GT6."

The first official bit of DLC for Gran Turismo 5 released last month, after a long string of game-changing updates and tweaks. The reason for GT5's late DLC deployment, Yamauchi explained, is that the team wanted to make sure the GT5 "platform" was complete before adding additional content.

"It's been about a year since we've released the game and in the interim we've had about 15 updates that were performed on the game. These set up the basic platform for the system," Yamauchi told IGN. "Now that we have that out of the way, we're ready to release more expansions and content to add to the game."

Players will be able to expect new vehicles, including cars and trucks, approximately every two months, Yamauchi added. He also asked fans to get involved, to decide the direction of future content. "What we do from here on is also really dependent on the reaction of the users to this first DLC that we just released because this is the first one. Now we have the feedback from our customers and we'll see how that will affect what we will do from here."
