For the uniniated, Gotham City Imposters is a 6v6 online FPS where "Imposters," inspired by the Batman and Joker decide to go to war with each other. Unlike the stoic hero of the series, you'll be able to carry guns and, presumably, kill people.

The open beta is expected to go live in December and, oddly, is expected to launch on Xbox 360 and PS3 only. "This is an open beta, but we will have a limited number of codes," the sign-up page explains.

While the premise is quirky, odd, and decidedly un-Arkham, the developer's pedigree merits some enthusiasm. Monolith Productions is best known for their work on FEAR and Condemned.

However, I will always remember them for The Operative: No One Lives Forever and it's sequel. For that reason, I'm very excited to see Monolith doing something that isn't FEAR (which I didn't care for) or Condemned (which I never tried). I almost forgot they were capable of making games that were quirky and (presumably) funny.

I agree but releasing this game right out of the gate in January gives me pause as to whether Warner Brothers is confident that it is a quality product, or even if it is if it will find an audience.

The PC beta of the game was a piece of crap. I don't see anybody playing this for long. The matchmaking system is fucking terrible.

Exactly, I couldn't even get into a game thanks to GFLW's utterly trashy matchmaking.
