Saints Row Initiation Station hits a million characters
by Steve Watts, Nov 09, 2011 8:00am PSTSaints Row: The Third decided to give players a little taste of the character creation with the Initiation Station. Apparently you guys love creating guys in dog suits and golden gods, because THQ announced today that the face-making playground has hit a million characters.
Roughly 1.2 million Initiation Station players created the various ridiculous characters. THQ says the most common non-traditional skin colors are green, red, and silver metallic. We're betting more than a few of those green and metallic ones are aping the Hulk and Silver Surfer. And 24 characters have been tagged as "God," which THQ says represents "a variety of religious backgrounds." Yes, seriously.
"The characters we’ve seen are mostly ridiculous, often hilarious, and always over-the-top. And now there are a million of them," said THQ Global Brand VP Kevin Kraff, in the announcement. "With the crazed creativity we've seen in only one week, we can’t wait to see what's to come. One million is just the beginning."
The game proper is due out November 15 for PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. Initiation Station players can then download their created characters for use in the game.
