Dead Island console patch raises level cap, live this week

Techland has detailed a variety of bug fixes and gameplay adjustments being made with an upcoming patch to Dead Island.

The console versions of Dead Island are getting new patches in the next few days, which promise to fix some bugs while also making a few gameplay tweaks. The PlayStation 3 version of the patch will go live tomorrow (November 9) and the Xbox 360 will follow on Thursday (November 10).

In terms of gameplay, a raised level cap to 60 is likely the one to garner the most attention from fans.

The patch will also add new blueprints for weapon mods, reduce infected damage, and remove the ability of infected to interrupt player attacks. The team has also adjusted quest XP, challenge rewards, allowed individual enemy balancing during co-op, quicker item pick-ups, improved rewards in weapon crates, and given a clearer indication of the pick lock level. The bad news? Kicks require stamina, so your boot of justice can't do all the work on zombies.

Performance tweaks include improved stability, and fixes include quest rewards, map tracking after death, looting from dead enemies, the mysterious energy drink weapon swap, and a squashed bug that left players unequipped after dropping a weapon and healing. Medkits and respawn points are also said to be smarter.

Its funny because the level cap is modified in the PC version with 1 line of text in a config file. At least they aren't charging for it.

That or remove weapons wearing out. Mid game I was killing at most two zombies with a weapon before it wore completely out.

i think there are hacks for weapon durability.

by mid game I had head stomp, I hardly used my weapons much. But the weapons I did use were blue or better and some form of shock modded. I didn't usually have to swing very many times to kill a zombie

Did you not collect the stronger weapons? I imagine if you just run around and use something like a paddle until it breaks and then pick up a new one, this will be a problem. I played as blunt weapons guy and I'd keep the stronger weapons and repair them after every run (use the work benches!) and when I leveled up I'd use an upgrade on modified weapon durability. Never had problems with weapons breaking.

Maybe my game is broken but I have durability skilled maxed, using purple weapons and they just fall apart. It takes a significant time to take out even the walkers and the weapon is at around 50% after just one kill.
