Uncharted 3 dev considering tweaking single player controls
by Andrew Yoon, Nov 07, 2011 11:30pm PSTFor some, the changes made to the way you aim in Uncharted 3 make the game significantly less fun to play. Shacker Sinisterinfant commented that the new controls are "garbage," making it difficult to enjoy the game. Others, like SketchyFletchy, have had no problems and consider the complaints "entitled whining."
To explore the mixed reaction towards Uncharted 3's controls, developer Naughty Dog invited gamers to its heaadquarters to discuss the problem, and potentially work on a new solution.
Naughty Dog's Arne Meyer invited members of the NeoGAF community to stop by the office to offer their input. CartridgeBlower, who attended the play session, said that the developer is "fully genuine in wanting to get a fix together as soon as possible." According to his report, the team was making changes "on the fly as we played," changing settings like sensitivity and "stick radius," while asking for feedback. Apparently, "they seem to have fixed much of the dead zone problems, and are adjusting the sensitivty so you can go even higher than what 100% is now."
Apparently, these fixes may be implemented in an upcoming patch, supposedly coming out "very soon." According to CartridgeBlower, he's unable to offer anything more specific due to signed NDAs.
We're hoping that the way Naughty Dog implements these changes will benefit everyone--gamers that have no problem with the current controls, and those that yearn for a similar experience offered by Uncharted 2.

Overall it feels like it's lacking any sort of normal acceleration / speed ramp up shooters that use an analog stick have. Plus the tracking feels kind of stiff. I don't know if you've ever done this on a PC, but it's a bit like emulating the mouse axes and movement to a stick with software.
I couldn't say how it compared to Uncharted 2 because it's been years since I played that game.
