Mark the date and time: Xav de Matos is a happy man. Why is he happy? Chrono Cross has finally been confirmed for digital release via the PlayStation Network.

According to the PlayStation Blog, the contentious sequel to the SNES classic Chrono Trigger will arrive on November 8 as the latest PSone Classic titles available to play on the PS3 and PSP.

Also on tap for the PSN are digital releases for Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy VI. All three titles will launch as part of a new "Winter of RPGs" campaign for the PlayStation Network.

Final Fantasy V will arrive on November 22, while December 6 will bring players Final Fantasy VI. Though all three titles will arrive during the busiest season for gamers, 'hardcore fans' will probably find a few extra hours in the day to revisit their favorites.

I loved Chrono Cross. One of the best video game soundtracks ever.

I've played through Chrono Trigger more than almost anything, and I really really need to play this game.

I couldn't stand chrono cross. Something about having all those extra characters. It just seemed really unfocused. I know FF6 had a lot of characters too, but somehow the story was written to make me care more.

Gotta love that they just brush over the whole original cities being destroyed / chrono gang dying business too. As if it's not a big plot point.

Also there's only one kid and one harle per dimension. I honestly assumed there would be a connection established. They also never went into detail about kid being schala's clone which felt unfinished and weak.

Basically I just hate how the game raised several interesting plot points then just got bored of each one 5 minutes later. It's like some terrible fan fic or something

I was under the impression that there was only one of each, period, since Kid is technically from outside the main timeline, and Harle was one of the Dragons, but it's been a *long* time since I played through the game.

It did feel a bit rushed - though not as much as the second disc of Xenogears.

Stay the FUCK away from FFV PSX. That game has terrible bugs. I managed to get myself warped back to the 2nd world from the 3rd one. You know, on that island with all the scripts broken and no airship? Obviously I could just reload, but still.

It also has major issues with graphic glitches

It has its faults, but Chrono Cross has pretty much the best video game soundtrack ever. No contest.

Chrono Cross was a game that I disliked the first time because it wasn't Chrono Trigger 2...then I played it a second time and the actual story and tie ins to Chrono Trigger started making sense and gained a new appreciation for the game.

Compared to Chrono Trigger it was a terrible game. The story made no sense at all, character were stale and generic thanks to there being 40+ of them, battle system was setup so there was zero choice/progression, etc

It was a terrible game. However the art and music were excellent. Had they chosen 10 of those characters and actually fleshed out the story maybe it would have been better.

Also for the record I enjoy playing it anyway, knowing it's bad. It's just that compared to other square games from their golden years it's not even close. I mean every line your party utters is a generic response that they colour with the character's catch phrase or accent. Thats how terrible it is.
