Konami offered the first real info on Silent Hill: Book of Memories for PS Vita, revealing the game will include multiplayer, and sent over a few screens of it in action.

After lying dormant since 2009's Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, the series is about to come back with a flurry of three titles. Silent Hill HD Collections lands on January 24 with re-mastered versions of Silent Hill 2 and 3 boasting high-definition graphics and new voiceovers. March sees the arrival of Silent Hill Downpour, an all-new adventure that follows the story of a convict, stranded in Silent Hill when his prisoner transport bus crashes. And then there's the upcoming Silent Hill: Book of Memories, about which little was known before we received our first tease about the game along with a handful of screenshots.

The eponymous book in Silent Hill: Book of Memories sets the stage for the game. It tells the entire story of a player's character and all their memories. The catch is that the player can rewrite that history, changing the past. Publisher Konami also revealed that the game will include multiplayer, a first for the series.

We have a handful of screens showing both the single and multiplayer action but before you go rushing headlong into them a word of warning. The game looks an awful lot like a hack-and-slash action RPG. Granted, that's just us looking at the screens, but fans of the series who've already been worrying about its future might want to be prepare themselves.

the only way i can see multiplayer working is two player co-op story mode that ends in a fight to the death as you both realize the other person abused you or something

If this seems like an odd use of the Silent Hill brand, keep in mind there has already been a Silent Hill arcade shooter like House of the Dead.
