RedLynx, best known for their work on the Trials series on Xbox 360, has been acquired by Ubisoft. Ubisoft's Yvves Guillemot noted that the publisher intends on building up the studio and the Trials brand, noting that the series has managed over two million downloads on Xbox Live Arcade. "We are delighted to welcome RedLynx to the Ubisoft family. Their expertise in asynchronous online games and physics-based game mechanics provides us with a great opportunity to bring their powerful brands, most notably Trials, to an even broader range of fast-growing digital platforms," he said.

This is the second acquisition for the French publisher this year, following the company's purchase of F2P developer Owlient in July.

Tero Virtala, chief executive officer of RedLynx, said that joining Ubisoft will allow the team "to focus even more intently on creating stand-out, excellent brands that push the boundaries of online gaming in many new growth areas. With Ubisoft, a wider audience will get the chance to enjoy our games, we‘ll generate more value for our brands, and also leverage our experience more broadly in digital distribution channels."

The studio has four releases this year, including Trials Evolution on Xbox Live Arcade, MotoHeroz on WiiWare, and two games for iOS.

Coming soon to the next trials. Multiple editions with unique contents (Gotta buy them all!), multiple Pre-order DLC from merchants (PRE-ORDER ALL THE MERCHANTS!), and our always-online DRM. Yay!
