Weekend Confirmed 84 - Battlefield 3, Uncharted 3, GTA V announced
by Garnett Lee, Oct 28, 2011 11:15am PDTBattlefield 3 blew up across the video game world this week and its shockwaves carried right over to Weekend Confirmed. But believe it or not, BlizzCon momentarily upstages the modern warfare, as Xav, Jeff, Andrea, and Garnett get distracted by pandas in WoW and the latest title to board the DOTA train. This special episode was recorded in the evening and the crew celebrated with beers and bourbon. So buckle up, it gets bumpy from the start. Along the rest of the way there's talk of Uncharted 3 and Dance Central 2, hopes and dreams for Grand Theft Auto V, and, of course, Finishing Moves.

I would fully endorse and purchase this product from Rockstar. I still feel we are a little far out from it actually coming to fruition, but I think our industry as a whole needs it.
Right now I am playing through fable III (a little late) with my gf as a female character. This is the most shallow "female experience" you could probably have in a game, but every time the game takes a small turn to address the gender differences, it is unique and fun. If we could have a game that fully embraces this idea, it would be a great experience to learn and to enjoy games in a new way.
My gf nods in approval. Perhaps one day, if a game like this comes out, she can be convinced to listen to this podcast.

For instance, the tv series Prime Suspect (early Helen Mirren British version, not the current one... though that also isn't bad) where your main character is played as a "Woman in a man's world", but the character is so strong that she demonstrates that her being a woman isn't relevant since she brings in results and gets the job done. Throughout the series she also has some flaws that happen, like her being an alcoholic.
Jane Tennison (Helen Mirren's character in Prime Suspect) is a character that I have not seen replicated in anyway for videogames, and to me, that is the type of role model games should go for if they want a solid female lead that doesn't lead with their sexuality.
Also Det. Greggs (from the Wire) or Renee Montoya (from DC comics) are other characters that would be fine role models.
