Weekend Confirmed 84 - Battlefield 3, Uncharted 3, GTA V announced

By Garnett Lee, Oct 28, 2011 11:15am PDT

Battlefield 3 blew up across the video game world this week and its shockwaves carried right over to Weekend Confirmed. But believe it or not, BlizzCon momentarily upstages the modern warfare, as Xav, Jeff, Andrea, and Garnett get distracted by pandas in WoW and the latest title to board the DOTA train. This special episode was recorded in the evening and the crew celebrated with beers and bourbon. So buckle up, it gets bumpy from the start. Along the rest of the way there's talk of Uncharted 3 and Dance Central 2, hopes and dreams for Grand Theft Auto V, and, of course, Finishing Moves.

  • Long-time listener here. I'm noticing that Kinect is being discussed (at great length) repeatedly from show to show. What is the point of re-hashing the same points about what Kinect is doing (or not doing) for a significant period of your show within what is often just a week or two. There's obviously not going to be some monumental change that occurs to the Kinect scene overnight.

I'm getting to the point where I might need to start fast-forwarding through huge portions of your podcast because you're just re-treading the same ground over and over again.

My point is that you should re-examine the Kinect maybe once every six months. Instead, every time a Kinect game comes out it instigates a huge discussion of why Kinect basically sucks (I've never tried it, just the impression that I seem to be getting); if a Kinect game release DOES change the scene, and changes opinions on what Kinect can and can't do, then by all means tell us about it. Otherwise, I'm going to assume that it's the same scene as it was (by your estimation) a week or two ago.
