Grand Theft Auto 3 coming to iOS and Android
To celebrate next week's tenth anniversary of Grand Theft Auto III's release, Rockstar has announced a mobile port of the classic open-world murder simulator, coming to select iOS and Android devices. A 1:6 scale doll of the game's star Claude is also in the works, for the collectors amongst you.
Rockstar hasn't announced a price for the mobile port of Grand Theft Auto III, which is slated to launch some time this fall. To play it, you'll need one of the following gizmos:
Apple iOS Devices: iPad 2, iPhone 4S
Android Phones: Droid X2, HTC Evo 2, LG Optimus 2X, Motorola Atrix, Samsung Galaxy S2
Android Tablets: Acer Iconia, Asus Eee Pad, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1
While GTA3 was revolutionary at the time, it hasn't aged nearly as well as Vice City or San Andreas. Today it feels quite antiquated, and can be frustrating even with a controller, let alone a touchscreen, so it'll be interesting to see whether Rockstar reworks the game at all.
As for 12-inch Claude, he boasts 30 points of articulation, for that perfect tea party pose, and comes armed with a wide range of weapons, plus a selection of hands to hold them. If you have a spare $149.99 kicking around, you can pre-order him from Rockstar now. It's a limited run of 1,500.
