To celebrate next week's tenth anniversary of Grand Theft Auto III's release, Rockstar has announced a mobile port of the classic open-world murder simulator, coming to select iOS and Android devices. A 1:6 scale doll of the game's star Claude is also in the works, for the collectors amongst you. Rockstar hasn't announced a price for the mobile port of Grand Theft Auto III, which is slated to launch some time this fall. To play it, you'll need one of the following gizmos:
Apple iOS Devices: iPad 2, iPhone 4S Android Phones: Droid X2, HTC Evo 2, LG Optimus 2X, Motorola Atrix, Samsung Galaxy S2 Android Tablets: Acer Iconia, Asus Eee Pad, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1
While GTA3 was revolutionary at the time, it hasn't aged nearly as well as Vice City or San Andreas. Today it feels quite antiquated, and can be frustrating even with a controller, let alone a touchscreen, so it'll be interesting to see whether Rockstar reworks the game at all. As for 12-inch Claude, he boasts 30 points of articulation, for that perfect tea party pose, and comes armed with a wide range of weapons, plus a selection of hands to hold them. If you have a spare $149.99 kicking around, you can pre-order him from Rockstar now. It's a limited run of 1,500.

Mini-Claude

Grand Theft Auto 3 is still pretty damn fun. Installed it on my Mac last week, and I can barely complete a mission before the siren call of just screwing around takes hold.

I may not be keeping up with the latest Android phones, but wtf is an Evo 2? I have an Evo 3D and AFAIK that's the latest Evo that's out.

I think he was given a name when he was in GTA: San Andreas.

Yea, I'm sure this won't control like complete shit on a touchscreen.

That's cool. I was hoping to see a GTA come to iOS. That's cool about the figure too, though was thinking he might be a pre order, but says already in stock. I still need to save up for my Sideshow ex Boba Fett.

You know, despite my making fun of Otaku collectors and their anime dolls in the past...I really, REALLY want one of those Claude dolls.

I replayed this just recently and think it still holds up rather well. Personally, its atmosphere is my favorite of the GTAIII trilogy.
