Tetris gets 3D update, for some reason
by Andrew Yoon, Oct 11, 2011 3:45pm PDTThe PS3-exclusive version of Tetris is getting a free update today. The 75MB download promises to take the classic puzzle game into the third dimension.
That may sound cool at first, but then you realize that today's update doesn't change the gameplay. It just makes the game compatible with 3D televisions. Yes, you can now enjoy watching 2D puzzle pieces falling down against a flat 2D background... in 3D, for some reason.
EA Mobile producer Christophe Gomez calls it "one of our most impressive free Tetris updates ever." The PS3 version of Tetris is the only version that touts 5.1 Dolby surround sound, 1080p graphics, and 3D visuals... because that's what Tetris is all about.
Tetris is available on the PlayStation Store for $9.99.
