The venerable Need for Speed franchise is getting yet another dramatic makeover with the upcoming The Run. The story-driven experience will take players across America, in a race from San Francisco to New York City. But, is it any good?

You'll be able to find out for yourself when the downloadable demo hits Xbox Live and PlayStation Network on October 18.

The demo will feature two levels: Desert Hills, California and Independence Pass, Colorado. You'll also have access to two supercars: the Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-2 Valentino Balboni and the 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera S. According to EA, the Porsche will be unlocked when you "refer a friend to download the demo." Exactly how that feature will be implemented in unclear.

Autolog will also be implemented in the demo, allowing you to compare best times with friends across the two tracks.

A demo hasn't been announced for other platforms, but the full game will be available on PS3, Xbox 360, PC, Wii, and 3DS on November 17.

*yawn* I don't know if its just me but has Need for speed lost its Unf! because I feel its just same old shit every series. Need for speed really captured me in Hot Pursuit and in Need for Speed Underground hell even underground 2 was pretty awesome then Most Wanted was okay and I think it all went downhill from there...
