When is a Bundle not a bundle? When it's the Humble Frozen Synapse Bundle, which launched today containing only Mode 7's lovely Frozen Synapse under the usual Humble pay-what-you-want model. However, if you pay more than the average, you'll also get the Humble Frozenbyte Bundle which ran earlier this year. Mega-bargain!

Frozen Synapse, if you've been under a rock, is a delightful turn-based strategy developed by Mode 7 Games. Leading squads with randomized weapons on procedurally-generated levels, players must carefully anticipate the other's moves as both turns take place simultaneously in real-ish-time.

You also get the fine soundtrack, which costs $6 separately. Then there's the whole Frozenbyte Bundle as well, if you pay above whatever the average is when you order.

The Humble Frozenbyte Bundle contains Trine, Shadowgrounds, Shadowgrounds Survivor, a pre-order for the mysterious Splot, and game prototype Jack Claw, all made by Finnish indie Frozenbyte. It originally launched in April, raking in a very respectable $909,918.39.

Whatever you end up paying, you get to divvy up the money as you please between the developers, Humble Bundle organizer Wolfire Games, the charity Child's Play, and the Electronic Frontier Foundation.

As is customary for the Humble Bundle, all this comes DRM-free for Windows, Mac and Linux. You can activate Frozen Synapse, Trine, and the Shadowgrounds games on Steam, if you fancy.

The Humble Indie Bundle brand has certainly proven massively successful at producing huge sales figures for indie games. Leveraging that awareness for individual games is a logical next step, but does it run a risk of diluting the brand in the long run?

Go on then Wolfire, give us another toe-tapping Humble Bundle tune. And you, dear reader, go buy.

been eyeing FS for a while...was waiting for a Steam deal but this is even better.

For the people complaining about it only being a single...by 2 and gift one of them then...jeez...

Absolutely. I bought FS for two people prior to this deal, and I'm probably going to end up buying a load more now to gift to friends.

Easily one of my favourite games of the year, and certainly worth far more than the current average. Jump on it, everyone.
