Gordon Freeman returns... in Renegade Ops

The Half-Life hero is back! Just... not for a Half-Life game.

The Half-Life hero is back! Just... not for a Half-Life game. Sega has announced a rather bizarre partnership with Valve that places Gordon Freeman and his buggy from Half-Life 2 into the Steam version of Renegade Ops.

"Working with Steam and the Half-Life team makes this game extra special," John Clark, director of PC Digital, said in a prepared statement. "Gordon Freeman is a deeply-established character in the gaming world and we are proud to have him included in Renegade Ops."

Gordon's special power in Renegade Ops will be to unleash Antlions. His appearance will also mark the canonical end to the Half-Life series. (Just kidding!)

Renegade Ops will be available on Steam on October 14th for $15. Here's a trailer:

Valve is great at encouraging awesome indie titles with incentives, I approve.

Really.... I know all the Valve fanboys are going to gush over this but meh. Would have been cooler if they added the A-Team for a fan cash in.

If they threw in the theme music I'd probably buy that.

Agreed. Really weak offering, and not a good justification for delaying the game a month

Why are they calling the HL2Ep2 muscle car a buggy? The buggy was in HL2, but this isn't it...

Why does the shack video player still suck so much? The 720p version of that vid looks very low res.

Half-life buggy is OK I guess, but do I get any TF2 hats for buying this or what?

Would rather it have been Adrian Shephard in a Military Jeep, but this is still awesome! Kind of weird that they're saying its the buggy when it looks like that car from one of the Episodes.

He really needs to be in a fighting game. All his lines are already written.

At this rate there will be more non-Half Life games with Gordon innem than there will be Half Life games with Gordon innem by the time Ep 3 comes out.
