"We've George Lucased it right up," Ben There, Dan That! developer Size Five (formerly Zombie Cow Studios) has declared, announcing an enhanced Special Edition of the delightful indie adventure game. While the original was free, the SE is "pay what you want" with an exorbitant minimum price of $3.25. Why, that's almost the price of a sandwich! The cheek!

"Ben There, Dan That! has always been pleasingly great, but it needed a bit of extra oomph I couldn't quite afford to do when it was first released. So then, like an AWOL George Lucas, I've hand-crafted a scrubbed-up SPECIAL EDITON version of the game," founder Dan Marshall explained.

The SE boasts "swishy graphical enhancements," a "jazzy Sam and Max: Hit the Road homage-y soundtrack," more sound effects, tweaks, and fixes.

A Special Edition of course demands special 'extras,' and Size Five has delivered some... unusual curios. Along with a video storybook and an ebook about the game's development, named 'Lowering the Tone' (geddit?), there are oddities such as a "Never-before-heard audio recording of Ben stomping around his flat cheering his own name, for the ending sequence."

Ben There, Dan That! special edition now can be bought direct from Size Five at a minimum price of $3.25. For those who own it on Steam, where it was bundled with sequel Time Gentlemen, Please!, Size Five plans to get it updated to the SE "as soon as possible."

Size Five recently announced its next big project, "a steampunk cybercrime caper" named The Swindle, which it has also curiously described as "Deus Ex meets Sonic the Hedgehog."

I beat both games a while back, they were pretty damn good for what they were. For anyone who likes the old Lucas Arts adventure games, these are worth playing through.

They are updating the steam version for free? That's awesome of them and makes me want to give them another 3 dollars just cause I can.
