Mass Effect movie adaptation detailed
by Steve Watts, Sep 21, 2011 8:00am PDTMass Effect is getting a film treatment, and a few of the additional details have slipped out. Following Comic-Con, Legendary Pictures held a fan Q&A which has revealed that the movie will, unsurprisingly, feature the male version of Shepard. When asked if the movie will be a trilogy, the production team simply responded: "We are really focused on making this a great movie, so we'll see where it takes us. We have to get the first one right to know whether there will be more."
The Q&A (via Eurogamer) doesn't offer any casting hints, though it did say that Seth Green will not reprise his role as Joker. Legendary is working with BioWare on developing the story, with Dr. Greg Zeschuk and Ray Muzyka are serving as executive producers. According to the Q&A, BioWare will "allow plot / character changes." Maybe Kaidan will actually be interesting this time around?
Legendary has a solid history of co-producing smart sci-fi action films, like the Nolan Batman series, Watchmen, and Inception. It's currently also developing movies adaptations of the Gears of War and Warcraft franchises.
