Street Fighter IV coming to Android

Capcom's Street Fighter IV is expanding once again, this time to Android.

Capcom's Street Fighter IV is expanding once again. No, not into Ultra Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition ver.2012-II. No, it's simply going to Android.

Apple fans have been able to play Street Fighter IV on their i-devices for a while, with Street Fighter IV and an updated version dubbed "Volt," which added a number of new characters and wi-fi multiplayer support.

It's unclear which version of the game will be making its way to Android. While it would be nice to get "Volt" right off the bat, let's not forget that Capcom loves double-dipping its products at every opportunity.

Unfortunately, the Android port of Street Fighter IV won't be the easiest game to get, at least not at first. The game will be available exclusively for LG's upcoming "HD" phone, via its LG World app store. "As we prepare our first HD smartphone for launch, it was important for us to be able to offer HD content that would really demonstrate this phone’s benefits," LG president and CEO Dr. Jong-seok Park said in a statement. "The HD version of Street Fighter certainly fills this objective."

No word on when the game will be available on non-LG Android phones. Perhaps an Xperia Play version--one that uses buttons--should follow shortly afterwards?
