The PC edition of Worms Ultimate Mayhem was due to be released this Wednesday, but developer Team 17 announced this morning that it's been delayed by one week. Ultimate Mayhem packs revamped versions of the annelidan turn-based strategy series' two 3D installments, Worms 3D and Worms 4.

Ultimate Mayhem brings the two games together in one wormy package with more customization options for your worms, more maps, new challenges, an improved camera, and plenty of blowing your chums to pieces.

Team 17 offers no explanation of why the game's been delayed to September 28, only saying that it has happened. Do feel to come up with your own reason, gang. You can pre-order it now on Steam at a discounted $13.49, or $44.97 for a four-pack.

There's still no firm release date for the Xbox Live Arcade or PlayStation Network edition.

I'm such a huge fan of Worms, but what's the point in this? A 3d playing field just takes away everything that was fun about Worms gameplay.
