Final Fantasy XIII-2 release date: January 31

Release dates for Final Fantasy XIII-2 were revealed at TGS 2011 yesterday, along with a PS3 'Lightning' bundle that's coming to Japan.

At the Tokyo Game Show yesterday, publisher Square Enix unveiled regional release dates for Final Fantasy XIII-2. Final Fantasy XIII-2 will launch in North America on January 31, with a European release just a few days later on February 3. In addition, Square Enix plans on releasing post-release DLC for the game, unlike with the original adventure. Details and price of said DLC have yet to be shared. In addition, Japan will be getting yet another limited edition PS3 'Lightning' bundle, featuring a black PS3 adorned with custom Lightning artwork. Available on December 15 in Japan, the bundle will retail for 37,960 yen (approximately $495).

    I'm curious why people are so excited for VS 13. The only stuff shown for it are a bunch of CG trailers and no gameplay/mechanics, right? Is there something I'm missing or do you just want more FF (which I can understand)?

      They've shown some gameplay but it's mostly because of what they've outlined what the game is/will be. That being:
      
      1) Open, seam-less world promising emphasis on exploration and rewards for exploration.
      2) Real-time, action based, on field battle system similar to the Kingdom Hearts series
      3) Return of controllable airships to the series.
      
      So pretty much Final Fantasy in name over function which is something to be excited about.

    NO shit I care about nothing but freaking Versus, XIII-2 RIP it will be the same shit like the first one.

      XIII-2 really isn't going to be anything like the first. More lists from me sorry! XIII-2 has:
      
      -Multiple endings influenced by choices made through the game...first ever for the series.
      -Open, branching areas versus the linear design in the first game.
      -Dialog response system similar to Mass Effect where all questions have 4 response choices which will branch the resulting dialogue.
      -Return of towns.

  Won't play until a DLC is release for new pants. Pimping Lightning in some bad ass armor with some unknown bad ass looking dude in the initial shots, then delivering Bozo's bastard child is just disappointment for me =|
