Final Fantasy X--one of my personal "must play" titles for the PS2--is coming to the PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 3. Details on what the "remake" will include are scarce; however, we assume it's simply an HD port of the classic title.

Final Fantasy X first launched on the PlayStation 2 in North America on December 20, 2001. It achieved critical acclaim, scoring a Metacritic average of 92.

Though Sony first showed off the power of the PlayStation 3 with a short tech demo based on the introduction of Final Fantasy VII, Square Enix has yet to succumb to fan outcry and confirm a remake of the classic title is in the works. They have, however, announced three hundred games in the Final Fantasy XIII universe... give or take.

FFX was better than FFVII. I'll say it, you Sephiroth fanboys.

i expect more people to reach for their torches and pitchforks if they announce FFXII HD next up after this (although you'd think it'd be FFX-2 HD right?)

can i just ask, for people who played through the original. lets say you sank 60-70 or so hours into FFX the first time around, would you actually play though it all again?

i mean i loved the hell out of FFXII, i sank 66 hours into it, but i can't imagine having the time to play through it all again...

If it has all the extra content that was in the European and Japanese extended releases, then sure. They added a fair amount of stuff, if I recall, including some ultra-hard bosses, that never hit American shores. I'd love to play through FFX again.

And we can all hope that they remove the goddamn laughing scene.

If they ported the International versions of both X and XII that'd be so fucking awesome.

Remakes are as much for new audiences to experience as they are for fans of the originals.

I assume this is remake as in port like the GoW and Ico/SotC business and not an actual remake.

      Awesome.

The line-up for the Vita seems godly.

      So pumped for this thing.

I've got damn near $150 in Gamestop credit just sitting around doing nothing and it's getting awfully hard not to pre-order this thing. I just want a solid release date first.

Awesome, can't wait for more details. I wonder if they'll remake in a new engine or if its just going to be polish on top of what they already have.

It being Square, I'd be amazed if it was anything more than a port/HD update.

It's a technical choice that they choose to do FF10 instead of FF7, 8 or 9. 3D contents are much easier to scale up then pre-rendered backdrops which are touched up by hand.

FFX has some of the most annoying character designs in the series. That's when Nomura really started losing his shit.

I hope they do away with that fucking chocobo race and the lightning mini games. Fuck both of them. I could get the chocobo one - after like 7000 tries - but I could never dodge the lighting 255 times or what ever absurd number it was.

FFX was my first JRPG, played it to maybe 90% completion and if I get the Vita I'll get FFX.

      FUCK. MY. ASS.

Funny enough, Ninty does this with the 3DS (remakes remakes remakes!) and i dont give a damn (even tho StarFox 64 is one of my all time favorite games) mostly because i wont buy a system on remakes alone. Vita is going to have a few solid originals (uncharted anyone?) AND a game in my top 5 of all time.

      More like FUCK MY WALLET.

          some of the xp exploits.

It could of been purposly made for it, but i recall doing King Cactaur > dmg to xp > auto phoenix summon

You got tons of xp every time. i remember traversing the spear grid multiple times.

If you're already doing stuff like that xp isn't the problem, it's grinding all the sphere's necessary to replace the low level spheres on the grid...

Whats funny watching that tech dome now is that no way can a PS3 do that!!! The dress she's wearing and pull out in one take to the full city... no chance!

What are you talking about, the PS3 has handled games with a much higher graphical demand then that.
