Battlefield 3 joins the small, but slowly growing list of multi-disc games on Xbox 360. The game will be broken up into two parts: the first disc will feature the game's multiplayer, co-op levels, and "installation content." The second disc will be devoted to the single player campaign.

The fact that the multiplayer half takes top priority is unsurprising. The franchise's bread and butter has always been its competitive multiplayer gameplay.

"Battlefield 3 for Xbox 360 ships on two discs with endless hours of spectacular high-definition gameplay," an EA rep told Eurogamer, we imagine while hyperventilating.

Unsurprisingly, the PS3 version will be one disc thanks to the larger storage capacity of the Blu-ray format.

Battlefield 3 is due on PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 on October 25.

It's kinda lame news, I mean the PC version will be on two discs as well I'm sure, IOW no BluRay version there, better results than either PS3 or 360, doubt we'll hear any complaint.

I didn't think we knew what was going to be on each disc.. just that there was going to be two.

Can't wait till this get's up on GI, see all that fanboys responding to further evidence that their precious consoles need successors. Things are fine, I'm not ready for new consoles, I enjoy my experience just fine, things are fine. I bet they'd think things would be fine with games running on 3 discs.

personally i dont really care unless they start cutting bits of the game to fit to one disc but releasing extra content on all other platforms. this is such a non-issue.

If it's singleplayer on one disc and multiplayer on the other, i don't see it being an issue.

Changing disks is less annoying than being forced to play with a tiny little controller designed for japanese girlie hands.

PS3 owners will be able to play multiplayer for months and never have to change a disk. Wait, so will 360 owners.

Don't really care. Just glad they put MP on Disc 1 and with my 250GB drive, I'll just load disc 1 and 2 (if it lets me)
