Sega has announced that a new entry in the ongoing banana-collecting series will be on the Vita in early 2012, likely near when the system launches. The new version is "exclusively designed" for the hardware, and will include support not only for motion-based controls, but the dual analog sticks and the front and rear touch panels.

As expected of every iteration of the franchise, Super Monkey Ball will have new levels, original mini-games, and multiplayer support. "Fans can also enjoy revamped classic games such as the much-loved Monkey Target, along with other exciting brand new additions," the press release reads.
