Sony revealed an alternate cover for the ICO & Shadow of the Colossus Collection: a logo-free sheet that includes the original Japanese cover for ICO.

The ICO & Shadow of the Colossus Collection is already a must-have for fans of the original PS2 games. The HD restoration of these revered classics looks terrific, and the inclusion of a number of on-disc bonuses, including a sneak peak at the upcoming The Last Guardian, makes a purchase that much easier.

Sony sweetened the pot just a tiny bit today, by revealing an alternate cover for the collection. While the game cover may be a bit gaudy, it can be reversed, showing off clean, marketing-free art for you to enjoy. As an added bonus, SCEA is using the original Japanese box art, instead of the cover art used in the original North American release.

With Tokyo Game Show only a week away, many are wondering if Sony will show off the name game from Team ICO at the trade show. Unfortunately, Sony announced that there will be nothing to show:

We wanted to confirm that The Last Guardian is not on the schedule for this year’s Tokyo Game Show. However we can assure you that Ueda-san and the rest of the development team are hard at work to bring his lofty vision to life and deliver the very best gaming experience possible.

That means the only way to see the latest footage of The Last Guardian in action will be to pick up the Blu-ray disc. Clever, Sony.

The ICO & Shadow of the Colossus Collection will be available on September 27th. To get a better look at how it holds up to the original game, check out a video comparison at Eurogamer.
