Another World coming to iOS
by Steve Watts, Sep 07, 2011 5:00pm PDTYounger gamers might not remember the adventure title Another World (aka "Out of This World"), but we old-timers can relive our memories later this month as the game makes the trip to iOS devices. DotEmu and BulkyPix announced today that the Eric Chahi classic will hit iPhone and iPad (universal version) for $4.99 on September 22.
The game is getting a few updates for its 20th anniversary to boot. The visuals have been remastered for the iPad and iPhone screens, and you can switch between the original and HD graphics at any time. You can also use a virtual D-pad or new touch controls. The game now sports three difficulty modes, one easier (Normal) and one harder (Hardcore) than the original game. ("Difficult" replicates the original game's difficulty.) In addition, the game promises remastered sound effects, 13 Game Center achievements, and support for five languages: English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish.
Another World was praised in its day for its minimalist cutscenes and challenging adventure-platformer game design. It, and its follow-up adventure title Flashback, helped to put Eric Chahi on the map. If that name sounds familiar, it's because he's the mind behind the recent hit From Dust.

A shame that Fade To Black went down the 3D route.. I remember playing it briefly back in the day and being distinctly un-impressed.
