"Exterminatus" is a co-op mode that allows up to four Space Marines to fight against "hordes of alien enemies in a score based fight to the death." Yes, it's Warhammer's take on Gears of War's Horde mode.

You'll be able to choose between the Tactical Marine, Devastator, or Assault Marine across two scenarios: "Assault on Hab Center Andreas" and "Escape from Kalkya Facility." All XP earned while playing this mode will also count towards the game's universal multiplayer ranks. Expect the DLC to be available in October.

So does this confirm that there is no campaign coop, because if so then I am super dissapointed. Relic did it so well with having campaign coop in Dawn of War 2 and then decide NOT to have that in Space Marine - a game which is going to draw many comparisons with Gears of War and it's coop features. I cannot begin to understand why. Campaign coop for this game should have been a fucking guarantee.

Just based on the demo it seems like there are moments when it wouldn't work to have two people; the jump pack sequences for instance, since two assaulters might be overpowered.

So one guy gets the jetpack and the other goes on foot? Gears had tons of parts where you split up and do different things to support each other through an area. Not having campaign coop just feels lazy.

Horde mode co-op is the worst kind of co-op :(

Please do enlighten me on an inferior type of co-op?

All coop was created equal and awesome, and Horde is no exception. Saying it is worse just makes you broken! You could even make the argument it is better than campaign coop because it so replayable.

Except Relics last game - Dawn of War 2 had both campaign coop and a horde style coop. So why do away with either in the big new game set in the same setting which everyone is excited about? I played DoW2 for the coop campaign, barely touched last stand.

I didn't like Last Stand either, but that's quite a different game than this where you have way more control over your character. And I never said I didn't want campaign coop, I'd much rather have both. Horde in Gears and Halo etc etc is tons of fun.

I was really hoping for a campaign. I was also hoping for a horde mode, so I guess im halfway erect.

Blasting away a HORDE of Orks in a survival mode is just what I was hoping for.

Lack of campaign co-op is indeed a huge disappointment - is that really not going to be present here? My local gaming group has no interest in a horde-style co-op mode; we want something with an actual plot to keep us interested, otherwise it feels like there's no point to playing.

sometimes, when the core gameplay is fun in itself, and challenging enough that you can get good at it in a group, it's fun, even without meaningful story.
