During last night's press gathering at the Call of Duty XP site, developers Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games revealed a few additions to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3's multiplayer mode. The biggest news was a new mode, entitled 'Kill Confirmed.' Also revealed were new options for players in Private Matches that give gamers an opportunity to create their own gametypes. In Kill Confirmed, two teams square off against each other in a variant of Team Deathmatch. Whenever a player is killed, a pair of floating dog tags appear over their corpse. In order to score during a Kill Confirmed match, players must "confirm" the downed player isn't getting back up by collecting their tags.

Gold tags are those from enemies, whereas red tags are those from your own team. Players can collect tags from their downed allies to "deny" a confirmed kill from the opposing squad. The tags quickly become bait for teams, lying in wait for enemies to rush toward golden tags only to pick them off and collect both sets for a confirm and deny score. Other additions to Modern Warfare 3 include a more robust Private Match mode, which allows players to control multiple options similar to Halo's Custom Match mode. This will allow players to make a number of tweaks to games to create their own gametypes and share the details via Call of Duty Elite as "User Generated" content with friends around the globe. According to Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will ship with 16 multiplayer maps, each of which will be playable in the game's co-op 'Survival' mode (as seen below).

Honestly think this game is probably just a rental. I had hoped that since a new studio was pretty much taking over, it would be different in some way. But sadly its even more of the same. =\
