Call of Duty XP finally sold out

Wouldn't it be unfortunate if tickets for Call of Duty XP were still available at launch--especially given the rampant enthusiasm over the company's other live event, BlizzCon? That's not happening.

Call of Duty may be a seasoned veteran in the world of military first-person shooters. But, it is a total newbie to the world of video game themed conventions. Call of Duty XP is the first expo for Activision's popular shooter, and the festivities begin tomorrow. Wouldn't it be unfortunate if tickets for the event were still available at launch--especially given the rampant enthusiasm over the company's other live event, BlizzCon?

That won't be the case, as MTV Multiplayer discovered that tickets were sold out some time this afternoon, just hours away from the show's start. Tickets were sold for $150 each, with attendance capped at around 6000 people. (BlizzCon, on the other hand, draws in over 20000 attendees, with tickets selling out nearly instantly.) However, we shouldn't downplay Call of Duty XP's performance too much. All proceeds go directly to the Call of Duty Endowment, meaning nearly $900,000 will be contributed to a charitable cause.

A ticket purchase includes a free copy of the Hardened Edition of Modern Warfare 3. In addition, various Call of Duty-themed events are planned, including the reveal of Modern Warfare 3's multiplayer offerings, a million dollar tournament, and... a Kanye West concert, for some reason. Expect more coverage from the show this weekend.

Good for them for giving the money to a charitable cause. Wonder how much it costs to book Kanye though...

Kanye West is there? You'd have to pay me $150 to sit through that crackerjack's blabbering
