You can expect a lot more Persona in the future. Three Persona games are coming across three platforms: PS3, Xbox 360, and the PlayStation Vita. First up is a game that should be unsurprising for most. Like its PSP predecessors, Persona 4: The Golden is an enhanced port of the original PlayStation 2 RPG. The updated version adds a new character named Mary, as well as additional voice recordings, animation sequences, and a new opening intro movie. According to an Andriasang translation, players can use "wireless support for calling on others to help you when you're about to die in a dungeon." It sounds like the opposite of Demon's Souls. A Japanese release is set for Spring 2012. The first screens are available on Famitsu.

More unexpected is the announcement of yet another Persona 4 game. "The Ultimate In Mayonaka Arena" (pictured above) is a new 2D fighter developed in conjunction with Arc System Works (BlazBlue). The story will take place two months after the events of Persona 4, and will include characters from both Persona 4 and Persona 3. Each character will have his or own unique story to play through, and the game will also offer online competitive play. The fighter will be released in arcades first, and will eventually move to PS3 and Xbox 360 in the summer. You can check out the first screenshots at Famitsu. Finally, with Catherine finally complete, development on Persona 5 is finally starting to begin. The "usual staff" is returning: Katsura Hashino as director, Shigenori Soejima as character designer, and Shouji Meguro as main composer. Siliconera reports that the new game will be based on a new internally developed engine, as opposed to the Gamebryo engine used for Catherine. This will make development take longer, but should make the process "smoother" as well.

A PS2 can be had for less than the price of a new game. Just sayin.

I have an unopened copy of Persona 4 and a PS2-capable PS3. Should I play it?

I haven't finished many other games yet, including Shadow of the Colossus, MGS4, God of War 2/3...I'm basically a horrible gamer.

Yes. But you don't have to finish it.

Sounds like it's just right for me! I wonder if I should go back and finish FFXIII first though...

I'm a horrible gamer too but Persona 4 was probably one of the few games that really held my attention for a long time.

Just watch the Giant Bomb Endurance Run instead. Way better than actually playing the game.

Persona 5 could turn out to be pretty damn awesome if it ends up on the HD consoles which is sounds like it is. They had previous expressed that they had to dumb down the social link systems for P3 and P4 to a flag triggered system because the PS2 wasn't capable of persistently tracking all the variables/data they needed for their original design of the system.

Yeah, a broadened social link system would be amazing. That's absolutely my favorite part of those games.

Persona 4 is one of my favorite PS2 games of all time. I would definitely buy a Vita to have a portable version.
