PlayStation 3DTV gets Resistance 3 again (as pre-order bonus)

Sony's PlayStation-branded 3DTV package is being shifted again, this time including both MotorStorm Apocalypse and Resistance 3.

One of the stranger announcements at Sony's E3 press conference this year was its plan to develop a PlayStation-branded 3DTV that features an exclusive "SimulView" mode that enables two players to play full-screen multiplayer games together. The 24" screen retails for $500, making it an affordable entry point into 3D.

Oddly, Sony replaced the originally bundled game--Resistance 3--with the less buzz-worthy MotorStorm Apocalypse. Today, the company has announced that it will be including Resistance 3, in addition to MotorStorm, for all pre-orders.

The $500 bundle includes the 24" 3D display, one pair of 3D glasses, an HDMI cable, MotorStorm Apocalypse, and Resistance 3, only if you pre-order before September 30th. It's certainly a better than deal than before, but one can't help feel the package is incomplete without a second pair of glasses. The TV's much-touted "SimulView" mode won't work without purchasing another pair glasses, which usually retails for about $100.

Still, at $500, the PlayStation 3DTV remains one of the lowest price ways of getting into 3D entertainment. Watch this promotional video, which confirms that the TV can also be used as a computer monitor. Perhaps you'll be able to connect Nvidia 3D Vision graphics card to this baby?

$500 seems like a reasonable price, though not quite so attractive for European and UK buyers at €500 and £500 respectively. Still plenty of time for those prices to drop though and maybe the bundles will be different in different regions.

There don't seem to be any pre order options outside of US or Canada (and one offer in New Zealand).

3D in Wipeout HD and Super Stardust HD is amazing. I hope to see more major titles supporting it soon.

Yeah totally, you should try Socom 4 is fantastic and my favorite game right now in 3D, note I am a sucker for third person shooters so the combo is freaking cool. Killzone 3 actually is better in 3D I dig that as well.

The best part is the 3D is perfect, Sony has some real nice quality control and there is no artifacts so far on the games I have tried.

I really have to applaud Sony for the 3D movement they really do not get enough credit for this, its its very well done and my passive glasses need no extra settings it just works.

I was impressed with Guild Wars 2 3d as well. Have you seen this? I played it at Pax, and it looked great compared to other games i've seen. I haven't seen Ps3 3d except in KillZone 3, which didn't impress me.

Hey pun, oh man you went to PAX lucky :) nah I had to work, to busy, my company won't let me have any time off right now :( I wish I could of gone.

Oh man you got to play GW2 in 3D that's sounds EPIC and it sounds like it was good too sweet, did you notice any translucent artifacts, doesn't sound like it if you said it was awesome 3D. You play it in the 3 screen both?

Oh shit I should of PM you before I play MK9 in 3D at home its EPIC once you play it in 3D you can not play it normal, its very nice addition.

Still like I said Scom 4 is by far the best 3D on the PS3, I hope they continue and the 3D gets better I am sure it will, so far its very solid from what I have played.
