Penny Arcade Expo planning third city expansion

Apparently, two expos are not enough to contain the geekdom of passionate gaming fans. Penny Arcade's Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik have confirmed plans to host a third Penny Arcade Expo, in addition to the current Seattle and Boston locations.

"Yeah, there's going to be a third PAX," Krahulik said.

"Believe it," Holkins added in the Joystiq interview.

Unfortunately, details beyond the confirmation are non-existent. However, the duo have previously expressed interest in holding a third convention in an international location, preferably a location that the creative team wants to visit.

Obviously, there are many eager gamers all around the world. A "PAX North" in Canada does seem to have a certain ring to it. Still, assuming the Penny Arcade duo want to vacation while running the show, we may more likely see a "PAX South" in the Bahamas. Wouldn't it be lovely seeing thousands of shirtless gamers galloping on the beach? No?

I feel like Chicago makes a lot of sense. Outside of the fact that there aren't big game developers there. Which of course is huge.

But PAX kind of brings the game convention where there isn't one. Chicago would be great.

it could handle it, but it won't happen - austin tends to get overlooked for conferences in favor of dallas. not sure if it's politics or what. because it can clearly handle large-scale events. and there are tons of developers here - more than anywhere else save for california.

I love PAX Prime but sometimes some gamers just don't have the means to make it stateside so that would be great for them. I've heard several aussies express the desire to have a PAX there. PAXtralia? How about Asia? Are there many PAX asian fans?

PAX Australia would be fine, but only if the politicians who all publicly hate video games all immediately quit their jobs.

PAX Euro would make sense, though a PAX Indy would be neat (crap tons of convention space and a small cohesive downtown make it great for things like that).

It's going to be Dallas or Austin. Texas wins on the tax advantage over other populated states and Canada.

But really it should be Denver. PAX High.
