Though the upcoming Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary release is meant to add modern visuals to the classic 2001 original Xbox release, the game includes a number of new additions.

Chief among those are hidden 'Terminals,' which expand the Halo lore and offer a tease at 343 Industries' Halo 4. In an interview with 343's Frank O'Connor, he told Shacknews that Terminals in Anniversary change based on the game's difficulty.

Rather than offer details in text form as the Halo franchise has done in the past with its use of Terminals, the hidden computers in Halo Anniversary are detailed videos.

When asked about adding new elements to the revamp of a classic game during a press day at 'Halo Fest' taking place at PAX 2011, O'Connor said that they are hidden out of place as to not take focus away from the classic game. He did note, however, that the computers are meant to be found and that some searching on easier difficulties will usually result in their discovery.

The Terminals will be more difficult to find, and will offer more information, on higher difficulty settings. Wouldn't you already know where to look if you found them on easier settings, you might ask. O'Connor confirmed to Shacknews that the Terminals will actually appear in different locations based on the difficulty setting selected in Halo Anniversary, adding a little more to the hidden bonus.

Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary ships on November 15 for $39.99.

Here's a new video of the updated game in action:

New graphics are not subtle at all. Bright lights everywhere, completely changes the feel of the levels.

Will this have co-op over live?

The graphics and lighting technology are undoubtedly superior, but the atmosphere of the original level demo'd there was a hell of a lot better. Also, the frame rate of the original looked faster in that video, which isn't very clever.

Yeah, what's going on there? Is it a capture / encoding issue? The new visuals look like they are running at 15 FPS.

I think they should have waited for the 15 year mark and the next system to really do something special. If Halo were still a huge seller I wouldn't be saying this, but they don't sell as well as they used to. When you consider Halo 2 and 3 both sold like 8 million a piece and the last 2 sold less than just one of those combined..... and next year Halo 4.

      Whatever.
