No plans for Dark Souls DLC
by Alice O'Connor, Aug 23, 2011 7:15am PDTDo you grind your teeth and clench your fists in fury when downloadable content is announced? Maybe, just maybe, a bitter smile will spread across your twisted face at the news that there are no plans for any Dark Souls DLC at all.
From Software's spiritual successor to Demon's Souls is intended to be a complete and static package, publisher Namco Bandai said in a Gamescom presentation attended by IGN. So no, no DLC.
Your masochistic side will have to make do with the copious amounts of pain and suffering included in the box when Dark Souls arrives for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on October 4.
On the subject of things which actually are in Dark Souls, here's a look at the Gamescom demo build, in case you missed it last week:

Warning: PS3 firmware 4.45 crashing consoles

DLC haters, rejoice! Demon's Souls successor Dark Souls shan't be receiving any DLC, publisher Namco Bandai has said. DLC lovers and casual admirers, hard luck, I'm afraid.

You're arguing for the ideal of DLC which most DLC doesn't fall under. You can't sit there and tell me "DLC is great because 2% of it great." We've had some good experience with DLC, however it's such a small percentage. The rest of it feels like nickle and diming; purposely held back content in order to make more money from us or to push exclusive content to different stores. It's not like we've come up to the conclusion that DLC = BAD out of nowhere. It's grounded by some very terrible experiences with DLC to the point that we'd rather just not see it anymore.
