Halo Going FPS?

Both Duke Nukem 3d AND Shadow Warrior SUCKED ASS. Shadow warrior was actually funny though.... Duke Nukem was a bunch of ripped off humor that wasn't even funny the first time around...much less when it was rehashed in a boring, ugly game with a pos engine.

One of the most exciting aspects about this game was the fact that they had the balls to make it third-person and not fall into the rut of a FPS. Well, I guess the pressure of all the 3rd-person game haters got to them. Making Halo a FPS is not ONLY going to ruin it, but it's going to take away most of the feel and the asthetics of the game.

This is a terrible move on Bungie's part. Wow...you can't use a sniper rifle in 3rd-person mode ... well then, let's fuck up the whole game by making it a FPS instead of simply changing the weapon or removing it altogether.

Halo will turn out like Quake 3 Arena, a very good game, but not even CLOSE to what was promised and previewed during its creation. They're going to change it to the point that it's going to look like everything else.

Needless to say, I am quite disturbed.

Has Halo ever made any sort of first person shooter before? If they haven't what makes everyone think that they are going to do a good job right out of the shoot. Look at Diakatana, I mean Romero was/is considered a veteran at fps and that game is not exactly all that.

call me crazy, but didn't dynamix solve this problem a year and a half ago with Tribes? imagine, a key that lets the player switch between 1st/3rd person views! how simple can you get? the flexibility provided by this solution is obviously the best way to do it. leave it up to the player which view they want to use at any given time!

Bungies' finally giving me some hope for this game. No way am I going to waste my money on a 3rdPP game. Especially if Tribes2 comes out at the same time.

i hope that halo doesn't take TOO much time liek daikatana. at the moment it looks great, but if it takes another 2 years for development it'll be standard

halo in 1st person
baaah, i loved this 3rd person view in the screenies, though i think it's difficult to navigate in huge battles. perhaps they should something like a "view of choice", so you can choose which view is the best, if you drive through large outdoor areas i think it could be nice to have the camera placed behind the charakter

uk suckz... they are kind of "islanders", totally isolated and still can't accept that the Empire is dead... poor people... a lot of unemployment...
