How Robin plays in Batman: Arkham City
by Andrew Yoon, Aug 19, 2011 3:15pm PDTWhile developer Rocksteady has yet to show off any gameplay footage of the Boy Wonder in action, Robin will be a playable character in its upcoming Batman: Arkham City. Rocksteady's Dax Ginn describes Batman's partner-in-heroism as an "explosions specialist," making him play very differently to Batman. "It's not a case that we've just reskinned him," he said.
"Because Robin only appears in the challenge maps, our focus is on taking him in a direction not seen before," Ginn told the PlayStation.Blog. "To fit in our world then he needs to be hard-hitting and have abilities that are approaching the potency of Batman’s, so he has a bow staff and shield, and he is an explosions specialist, with vision augmentation that allows him to identify explosives in the environment."
Robin will be available at launch exclusively at Best Buy. A Warner Bros. representative later confirmed to us that the character will be available as paid DLC after launch.
Batman: Arkham City is headed to PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on October 18.
