Like the zombies that star in it, the Resident Evil movie franchise will not die. Resident Evil: Retribution, the fifth entry in the long-running movie series, will begin filming this October for a release in 2012.

While the films have largely splintered from the narrative of the games, the latest film, Afterlife, made some nods to the game series, featuring characters like Wesker and Jill Valentine. The next movie, also directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, will continue that trend.

According to Bloody Disgusting, Milla Jovovich will return as Alice, the headlining star of the films so far. In addition, Jill Valentine, Barry Burton and Leon S. Kennedy will all be making appearances in the upcoming film. According to the report, the movie will take Alice from Toronto to Japan.

Sony's Screen Gems studio is aiming for a release on September 14, 2012--just in time for next year's Halloween rush.

I agree with you, but her attractiveness isn't enough to give those movies a pass. They had a great idea for a movie franchise and took a shit on it.

I remember liking the first movie quite a bit for what it was

i actually dont mind the RE movie series, there have been much worse game to movie conversions then these ones. Also the first was very close to the games, the scenes in particular, many scenes came straight out of the games.

Paul W.S Anderson is carely above Uwe Boll when it comes to directing. What a cheese-mo. First Resident Evil movie was decent, the rest were utter tripe.

I kind of like those movies. Mindless fun with a predictable ending. They're good popcorn flicks.

Im strangely ok with this. The movies are increasingly more bizzare and I can't help but enjoy them. I wouldn't say they are great movies, but I also can't deny ive liked them. They are something of a guilty pleasure. MOAR!

      The first one was fun
      The second one was good
      The third one was... ok
      The fourth one was unforgivable
The fifth one will not be watched
