During its E3 2011 media briefing, Microsoft revealed a number of new additions to the Xbox 360 dashboard feature list, including Bing search. In a new video from the official Microsoft blog, the company continues to talk highly of its next console update, outlining how the simple idea is one step closer to removing barriers of entry for those less technologically inclined.

Using Bing, users can access any type of content available on the Xbox 360 console. Want to know all the Batman content available on the Xbox 360? Simply say "Xbox 'Bing' Batman" and every piece of Batman related content available appears. Of course, this function is only available for users sporting Microsoft's Kinect peripheral, which has a barrier of entry equal to about $150.

You know what would also make finding content easier on the Xbox dashboards? Getting rid 90% of the content by removing the fucking advertisements.

Bringing back Blades would help too.

I miss the blades as well but i don't think I could go back to them.

Yeah, the thing with the blades that is was easier to move from blade to blade but getting to content inside each blade was actually kind of a pain in the ass with a controller. I think the current layout does a better job at accessing category content.

i use the ads for the weekly deals, and what's new on the marketplace. i'm sure sales would go down if those ads weren't there

Same. That's how I usually find out about new LIVE games and DLC sales, etc.

yeah, I don't understand why people want that stuff removed. I check it all the time to see what's new and on sale and find it incredibly useful. It's not like there are ads for Veet or BMW or some other shit which has nothing to do with entertainment.

There are auto-playing video ads for Sparkasse (local credit union), Fanta and other stuff here in Germany.

the voice commands sound like they'll be useful. it's stupid that i have to say bing instead of search but i'll probably get over it next year or something.

right now having separate menus for kinect and regular xbox is retarded. switching between the 2 is annoying and the kinect one is pretty useless with the lack of things you can access.

i don't know how heavily i'll use the my hands to navigate the menus since when i play a game i have my controller ready and when i watch a movie, i have my universal remote ready (i had to to turn the tv on and change the video input). Being able to say Xbox bing bastion and have it be just one button press or play bastion command from there would be a lot faster than how I'm doing it now.

I want all the bullshit gone and just want a easy way to browse my library of games. I have to scroll through a bunch of screens I don't use to find the four I actually do use (and I could probably shortcut that process by just hitting the guide button and navigating through that).

I really wish you could customize the dashboard so it'd display the things I do want and not a hundred things I don't use or care about.

I'd love a way to be able to add shortcuts to the homescreen to my XBLA / Marketplace games. Ads should be in the background -- not the focus of the dashboard.

this fixes that with voice search. if you don't have a kinect and voice search it doesn't look like they're changing much for you

All I want is for the Dashboard to start me on "My Xbox" instead of "Spotlight".
