by Maarten Goldstein, Jun 06, 2000 5:44am PDTIn a really surprising turn of events *cough*, the US Justice Department has said no to almost all of the remedy changes Microsoft wanted in the break-up proposal by the government in the MS anti-trust case. One of the things they could agree on was adding a comma to correct a typo, which sure is something. Microsoft has until Wednesday to come up with anything else, after which the judge will give his final ruling.
And in other Microsoft news, The Register is reporting that the new consumer Windows version, Windows ME, will go gold pretty soon, as in early next week, to be released mid July. This is pretty much a 3rd edition Windows98 now, but will probably be the last of the Win9x line. Apparently, Microsoft will be using the slogan "It just works" to promote it ..hmm yeah. I sure dont kow what program they are talking about there.

microsoft tries to lower the standard and wants to satisfy billie, that isn't ok and they have to be divided or at least the win source code has to be published -> more competition -> better products

written from scratch, with all differnt things written in a kinda module form, with dll's.
if its not there its not avalible feature.
then itll get done BETTER, (each person concetrating on their own bit)
and wire out all the old code.
make the HTML engine faster, and make it compleetly based on that. that would allow extreme customisation, which a lot of people would like.
but then, that was the problem int he first place. :/

hey anyone with a tnt2 and win2k kind enough to tell me what they have under:
my computer\ hkey_local_machine\ system\ controlset001\ services\ nv4\ device0\ monitortiming ????
cause i changed it from windows auto detect to general timing formula (GTF) ... now accessing the control panel does a STOP screen (wtf is a stop screen? BSOD forever!)
just want to know the default value for MonitorTiming (it's now 'GTF')
the only thing that still bugs me is the icons int he system tray wont go into 256 colours, i can never have more than 16 :/
i got the demo of ME and that had 256 colours, and i thought wh00p.
then i got win2k pro, and i was back to 16 :(
is there a seting to change somewhere, or do you just not get 256 colours?
just GIVE US an OS with the NT Kernel that works with games.

si i stuck in another 128mb, w00000000000 damn its fast
its gave me an fps increase in q3 from win98 (about 20fps)
the geforc runs NICE, and now its NT i can add an extra celeron (bp6)
M$ shoudlnt be broken up because theyre a successfull company, linux will get to windows standard (user friendly wise) in about 5 years.
