This year's Gamescom was undoubtedly one of the biggest, and DICE's upcoming modern warfare shooter managed to earn top honors. The show's official awards were handed out today, and Battlefield 3 won "Best of Gamescom." Electronic Arts stole the show with four awards total, including wins for "Best Online Game" with Star Wars: The Old Republic, "Best Console Game" with FIFA 12, and "Best Browser Game" for The Sims Social.

Sony managed to win two awards thanks to its shiny new Vita handheld. PlayStation Vita won "Best Hardware," an easy win considering the lack of any other hardware at the show. Uncharted: Golden Abyss also won "Best Mobile Game." Take that, iOS!

Finally, Diablo III won "Best PC Game" and Sesame Street: Once Upon a Monster won "Best Family Game."

Gran Turismo 5 won top honors at last year's show.

accually turns out the only reason it did not win was because a game cant win multiple times, and GW2 won last year over TOR

Look how wrong you are... but then again, I hate PvP.

HA, GW2 may HAVE pvp but it can stand alone without it.

TOR is simply.... not as good as it. since GW2 has higher ratings from players who have played it while TOR not he other hand has gotten lower scores from the people have tried it.

i am GIGANTIC starwars fan... but the game does not live up to the knigts of the old republic which i loved.

Battlefield definitely earned it. They showed off an AMAZING multiplayer trailer. It made me ridiculously excited for it.

Completely will justify the 1.2k i dropped on a new comp.

i really hope this is an incentive for IW to work a bit harder on their COD series and try to innovate instead of re-releasing the game every year on the same engine and gameplay but with different environments/levels

Wait, Diablo III was there? So Blizzard finally did away with their Blizzcon-only policy for showing off their games? News to me.

They showed the Blizzcon 2010 build, so it was a bit of old news there.
