by Garnett Lee, Aug 16, 2011 5:40pm PDTIf massively multiplayer battles sounded good to you but joining the armored division in World of Tanks wasn't your thing, how does taking to the sea sound? Developer and publisher Wargaming.net has announced the next entry in the "World of" series, World of Battleships. Players will get to captain all manner of 20th century warships as they maneuver in battle on the high seas. And, like its predecessor, the game will use a free-to-play model making it easy to get into the online fray.
No specifics were given on what vessels to expect but the announcement release noted that there will be a large variety available that offer unique combinations of firepower, speed, armor, and endurance. To bring out the various combinations of strengths and weaknesses, the maps feature elements like dynamic weather that effects the tactical situation.
