Sony has announced a surprise price drop for its PS3 hardware at Gamescom. Effective immediately, the 160GB system will drop down to $249, a savings of $50. The 320GB system will be available for $299.

In addition, Sony has announced a new Infamous 2 bundle "at participating retailers." The bundle, available for only $299, includes a 320GB system, a copy of Infamous 2, and a 30 day trial of PlayStation Plus.

"The new price will make the PS3 more accessible than ever before, so there’s never been a better time to join PlayStation Nation. We know that while future-proof technology is important to you, content is still king — that’s why we continue to focus on bringing you exclusive “must have” titles that are unmatched by anything else on the market. With games like Resistance 3, Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One and one of my personal favorites, Uncharted 3, all on the horizon, there’s a lot of great entertainment in store for you," Jack Tretton said in a prepared statement.

If anything, it makes the 4gb 360 look too expensive.

A month after I buy my PS3. Eh, no regrets, though I probably would have snagged the Infamous 2 bundle.

If you bought it from BB or other retail...maybe they will compensate you. Won't hurt to ask.

Most places have a 30 - 90 day return policy. Get a flash drive, pull all your save files off, and then return that shit and rebuy a new one. Of course, most places also know that you will do this, and just give you the credit without all the trouble.

Gamestop was giving $100 coupons for new ones back in may (it is how i got mine) I was sure $100 price drop was likely.
