Got $99 and a love of all things Minecraft? Tickets for the official 2011 MineCon are now on sale, and a little more has been revealed of what exactly will be going on there in Las Vegas this November.

What was once a grand and unusual dream is rapidly becoming reality: you can now buy tickets to MineCon, a celebration of all things Minecraft in Las Vegas to celebrate the indie dig 'em up's November launch.

Initially, tickets will be sold for $99.

As for what'll be going on there, beyond the official Minecraft launch on November 18, the lineup includes keynote speeches from folks including creator Markus 'Notch' Persson, classes about "all different Minecraft topics," build and costume contests, exhibits "by leading gaming and Minecraft related companies," and buying commemorative merchandise. And the imbibing of many alcoholic beverages, one would imagine.

MineCon takes place November 18-19 at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in glamorous, filthy Las Vegas. As mentioned, MineCon tickets booked well in advance cost $99, but this'll rise to $139 from October 1. Mojang has organised a group rate for rooms at the hotel, with the cheapest being a two-person room that costs $113.18 nightly.

I hear there's an activity scheduled at Minecon where you make little airplanes out of fifty dollar bills, then light them on fire and toss them out a window. You rich people make me sick!

This falls squarely under the umbrella of "who cares?". If people want to pay $99 to go to Vegas and talk about punching sheep, it doesn't bother me in the least.

if the rates they got for Mandalay Bay are low enough it might be worth it for the extra $99. that's a really goddamn nice hotel from what I hear, and a weekend stay will set you back at least $250/night

      Disgusting.

This money should be used to protest in Washington or feed people.

Well, I guess this game is no different than The Sims really. Or Sim City (back in the day) so I was going to post something mean but nah, it's cool.

Protesting in D.C. does crap all. I live here I should know.
