Dead Island co-op trailer teases teamwork

A new Dead Island trailer shambles onto the scene to show off a bit of the game's co-op component.

A new trailer showcasing Dead Island's summer vacation gone bad has arrived, but this time, we get a glimpse into the cooperative portion of the game. It makes sense, since developer Techland has promised that the game's main story-based campaign can be played through with up to four tasty zombie treats people. The new trailer also reinforces that fact that zombies in bikinis are kind of disgusting.

While the four protagonists might not be as immediately charming as those starring in parts one and two of another well-loved zombie series, Dead Island's protagonists aren't without personality, and the open-world nature of the island is undeniably alluring.

For more information about what to expect from Dead Island, our three previews should help in that regard. Xav previewed the game first at GDC, I played a bit in-house, and Ozzie got his hands on the aforementioned co-op component at E3.

Dead Island is due out on September 9 for PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.

Any confirmation that it's online co-op and not local/couch co-op?

Such a disappointment. I love Techland, they always make unique games that are fun to play. Why they are making this some cookie cutter action shooter and not a sandbox survival-horror is beyond me.

Also whats going on with the new Call of Juarez...

I like the hardcore music and then the last 3 seconds some nice piano....this game is SERIOUS guys!

Looks totally uninteresting to me. Left 4 Dead exists and already scratches my co op zombie itch.

This game will be pretty, have probably awesome combat and a few chuckles but looks like to be a mindless romp....doesn't seem like a game to buy

I thought the girl sounded ok. It's the "Hardcore" guy that sounds like he'll be annoying...

On a side note, the music at the end of the trailer, sounds like something from LOST.

Would be funny if in the game you see Zoey, Francis, and Louis arriving on the island by boat.

This is starting to look more and more just like a L4D clone... it was mentioned that it's supposed to be more 'open' then L4D, but L4D exclaimed that it was a awesome free form shooter where you have to fight your way through a city. Really you just fight your way through alleys and the 'zombie director' amounted to little more then a randomized wave and special at a set interval.

When we see something along the lines of Just Cause 2, with coop, and zombies... then we'll finally have a good zombie game.
