The new capture & hold mode Dominion coming "soon" to the free-to-play Legend of Legends is shown off in a new trailer, mixing gameplay snippets with 'behind-the-scenes' chat from folks at developer Riot Games. The new mode is intended to give shorter, sharper bursts of LoL.

"Veteran League of Legends players will really love Dominion because it really boils down the best elements of the game they already know and love into a short and intense 20-minute gameplay session," according to Riot president Marc Merrill.

Dominion takes place on a new map, with five control points for the two teams to war over. Rounds will last 10-20 minutes, with players powering up faster, buying end-game items sooner, dying quicker and more frequently but respawning faster.

There'll also be quests to complete, which project lead designer Richard Hough says "break up the flow" and incentive alternate strategies. For example, you might be offered a "large reward" for holding two specific capture points.

There's no firm word yet on when Dominion will launch.
